The mechanicals are fairly bomb proof so you wont really have to worry about that. Are the 2016-2018 xc90s really that unreliable and expensive to maintain? They have been great. I want a volvo xc60 t8 because their non-plug-in hybrids have pretty rough gas mileage. Ive seen an article that said specifically that the xc60 t8 has awful reliability. Volvos had some lemon issues with the electrical systems in their spa cars. Even the older gen t8 wasnt too bad (common failure on really early would be the erad transmission (electric motor transmission), some on board chargers and weve changed a couple cells over the years. From what ive gathered thats where the poor rating comes from. That seems absurd, but thats more or less what the depreciation curve suggests. The new ones we have rarely been into. · future depreciation on cpo/warranty xc90s appears to be massive. · volvos are brilliant at reaching multiple hundreds of thousands of miles, theyre reasonably reliable but also very durable, repairable and with good parts availability. Honestly, if youre going new/newer, look for the long range battery version. Are they going to cost $5-8k+ to keep on the road every year outside warranty? Volvo t8 (plug-in hybrid) reliability does anyone here have a t8 engine with a good enough amount of mileage to vouch for their reliability? I am a tech/foreman at a volvo dealer (in canada even). Out of warranty cars have a ~$15-25k advantage for only being 2-3 years older. The 2024 models also introduced a new infotainment and new computer so theyve had some issues with that.
